FDR: A President’s Journey: To celebrate and welcome the Rotary International Convention to Atlanta, various Rotary Clubs and tourism partners have created a special tour for tourists and Rotarians to experience. The tour is all inclusive, with tours to the Warm Springs Historic Pools, Roosevelt Warm Springs campus, the Little White and Dowdell’s Knob. Price includes lunch at The Bulloch House. Tickets can be purchased in the House of Friendship Booth, number 1517 at the Convention, or by clicking here.

Candlelight Tour:  Experience the warmth of Warm Springs Christmas at the annual Candlelight Tour, a holiday highlight that must be experienced to be appreciated.  Candle lit streets, smells of hot cider, fresh mountain air and horse and buggy rides take folks back to “memories of the past”.  Celebrations start with holiday music by local performers, specialty shops for that perfect Christmas gift and a nighttime 1K and 5K run thru the beautiful streets of Warm Springs. Candlelight Tour Run Enjoy this holiday-season race through the lighted downtown of Warm Springs, GA  on November 17, 2017. The 5K race starts at 10:00 p.m. and a one-mile fun run starts at 9:30 p.m.  All pre-registered runners and walkrs will receive a colorful, quality long-sleeved Tshirt.  Additionally, all runners will be treated to food, fruit, drinks and water!  All registrants will also be eligible for door prizes.  Entry fee is $20.00 if received by November 4, 2016  After November 4th and on race day, the entry fee is $25.00.  Shirts can only be guaranteed for registrations received by the deadline.

Fala Day: Scottish Terrier Club of Greater Atlanta will be hosting their 31st Annual Fala Day at FDR Little Whitehouse State Park in Warm Springs Georgia.  Join in the celebration of FDR’s beloved Scotty, Fala with traditions, including stories of Fala as told by the Park’s interpretative Ranger, the parade accompanied by bagpiper and special dedications and readings. Fala to the Rescue:   SCOTS/SOS…..Scottie Club of the South/Saving Our Scotties. Come Help SOS (Save Our Scotties).  This celebration of Fala will include a costume parade, contests, games, vendors and end with a dinner and live auction. Independence Day Fireworks:   Start your Independence holiday here in Meriwether County at The Manchester Mill in Manchester on July 3rd. Meriwether Miles:  Calling all bicycle riders…the Meriwether Miles Bicycle Ride, held in conjunction with the Peaches in the Pines Festival on June 10, 2017.  Three routes to choose from, a short ten mile ride; an intermediate route of approximately 30 miles and an “uber” ride of an almost 70-mile route.  For more information contact 770-927-2847

Train Observation Deck: Positioned behind a classic row of downtown shops, including El Agave’ Mexican Restaurant and the Sugar Shack Bakery & Café,  enjoy train watching from a gazebo with picnic tables..  All trains traveling through Manchester will pass by or at least can be seen from the gazebo.  You can expect about 40 trains during a 24-hour period to slowly roll through this Waycross split of Atlanta and Birmingham Mains.
